OUR SPEAKER
Dr Arup has more than 20 years of experience in the financial markets. He started his career as an Economist with The World Bank in Washington DC, USA and went on to work in investment banking. He has been the Chief Economist for Asia for 3 global banks – Citigroup, UBS Investment Bank and HSBC.
Prior to joining RHB, Arup was Managing Director and Chief Economist with CIMB Group, as well as the Chief Economist with CIMB ASEAN Research Institute. He was responsible for conducting research on Asian economies and financial markets. Internally, he was also economic counsellor to the Group Management Committee and various Board committees. Externally, he advised the bank’s clients and presented the bank’s research at conferences as well as to the print and broadcast media.
Singapore-based Dr Arup leads RHB’s Research effort across all areas which includes Economics, Equities, Fixed Income and F/X.
Arup has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, a Masters from the Delhi School of Economics and a Ph. D in Economics from Vanderbilt University in the United States.
